Wildlife

Nesting Birds
All birds and their nests and eggs are protected by law. In England, Scotland and Wales the legislation that protects wild birds is the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. In England and Wales the law has been amended by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and in Scotland by the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004.

The amount of protection afforded to wild birds varies depending on whether the species are listed on various Schedules or Licences. At Aberdeenshire Tree Specialists the welfare of birds, wildlife and their natural habitat is our priority when assessing or working on any project.

More information can be found at www.opsi.gov.uk or www.rspb.org.uk

Bats and other Wildlife
Many other species of animals are also protected, e.g. bats and badgers. Aberdeenshire Tree Specialists routinely undertake a Habitat Disturbance Assessment at all sites before undertaking any tree work.
